CHILD AND FAMILY PSYCHOTHERAPY

Kathie Nichols has a PhD with a specialty in Clinical Child and Family Psychology from the University of Kansas. She has a board certification in clinical psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. Her work includes parenting assessments, individual therapy and assessment for children, psychological testing, mediation, and parenting coordination. She has published numerous professional articles. Dr. Nichols has presented nationally on her work with difficult personalities. She is also works as a consultant for Baylor Medical Center in Houston in the family research department. Dr. Nichols is in private practice in Lawrence, Kansas.

In addition to her specialty in Clinical Child Psychology she is extensively training in Cognitive Behavioral therapy. She has been involved in research projects and publications that includes infant attachment, resilience in children, and the affect of media violence on children. She was appointed to the special task force established by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a national effort to develop threat assessment procedures in the area of school violence.
